Recently we have been having people join the community and posting gibberish entries. I have changed the community to where a maintainer has to approve the new person joining. Hopefully this will cut down on some of the people/bots that are joining to post non MSU stuff.

Where is the best place in the area to buy a mattress? I would be willing to drive to Columbus or Tupelo.
BTW, this community is kind of dead. Is there a new place that all the MSUers are talking now?

does anyone know of a place in Starkville, Columbus or tupelo that buys books?
I'm not looking for a lot of money. But I don't want to just give or throw them away either.

Townhouse, 2 story apartment available for this summer only. But you can sign new contract afterwards
It's 500/month which includes washer and dryer. It's about 1100 square feet, and includes a small enclosed back padio along with private parking in back.
I would like to move out around May 31st just in time for summer classes to start. This has been a great apartment. No leaks or problems with air or heating. Washer and dryer, along with other appliances work great.
It's a quiet neighborhood. Call 601-916-2000 for any more questions or email email@example.com.
Here is a picture of the apartment:http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=34834832&l=a4b1f4874a&id=26509555

Know Your Numbers
Health Education and Wellness is encouraging everyone on campus to know their numbers. Cholesterol, blood pressure, blood sugar and body mass index numbers are key indicators of your risk for major illness. The Know Your Numbers/Run Wild program is a great tool for self-managing your health and charting a course for change.
As part of the program, participants will get a free health screening, commit to personal management of exercise and nutrition habits, and will take part in a walk/run on Saturday, April 4th. Within two weeks of completing the walk/run, everyone is encouraged to have a free follow-up screening.
All students, faculty and staff are welcome to join the program. Sign up today and take action to reduce your chances of developing heart disease, diabetes, and other major chronic illnesses.
For more info or to register for the program, contact the Health Education and Wellness office at 325-7545.

Three arrested in gunfire incident at MSU
Three arrested in gunfire incident at MSU
Thursday, 09 October 2008
By BRIAN HAWKINS
Starkville Daily News
Three people — including one student — have been charged in connection with a predawn incident at a Mississippi State University housing complex on Wednesday that saw multiple gunshots fired.
No one was injured in the gunfire exchange, which took place about 3:30 a.m. at the Arbour Acres apartment complex on the south end of the university campus, MSU Police Department investigators said. Arbour Acres is located south of Rice Hall.
Arrested in connection with the incident were:
• Michael Oden II, 21, of Starkville, on charges of possession of a deadly weapon on educational property by a student and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Oden, a sophomore at MSU, was convicted of statutory rape in 2006, officials said.
• Taforrest Allen, 21, of Starkville, on charges of displaying and discharging a firearm on educational property.
• Lajerrius Jeffries, 17, of Starkville, on a charge of tampering with evidence.
Allen and Jeffries are not enrolled at MSU. Jeffries, though 17, is being charged as an adult offender, said MSU Police Lt. Don Bartlett.
Information on bonds for the three suspects was not available at press time Wednesday night.
All three were arrested before 8 a.m. Wednesday after being detained for questioning in the immediate aftermath of the gunfire incident, said Bartlett.
The circumstances that led to the gunshots remain under investigation, but MSU police detectives have learned that some sort of altercation between students and non-students occurred, Bartlett said.
Additional information is still forthcoming as the investigation unfolds, Bartlett said.
Anyone who has information related to the gunfire incident is encouraged to call the MSU Police Department at 325-2121.

getting healthy at MSU
I've been meaning to do this for forever and was wondering if there was someone "in the know" on campus that you can talk to about such things.
You know, someone to make a battle plan with, and to help me have a more modern outlook. In times past I just kind of "I'm gonna stop eating crap" and "I'm gonna start " which doesn't work to well.
